Common questions
What's the difference between crypto perpetual futures and CME or other dated futures?
Perpetuals have no expiry date; they track spot price through a funding-rate mechanism paid periodically between long and short positions. CME futures and other dated contracts expire and settle on a fixed date and carry no funding. Everything measured on this page is the perpetual-swap kind, not a dated contract.
Does this page include the funding rate?
No. Funding is paid periodically between longs and shorts and changes throughout the life of a position, so it isn't a one-time execution cost the way fee, spread and slippage are. This page measures only what it costs to open the position with a market order.
How are perpetual DEXs compared against centralized exchanges here?
By the same formula. Order-book perp DEXs are measured like a CEX — fee plus live spread plus simulated slippage — while oracle-priced perp DEXs don't run a book for us to sample, so they show a fee-only cost instead.
Why does this futures view default to $100,000 instead of the $10,000 used on the spot page?
Futures positions are typically opened at larger notional sizes than spot trades, since margin lets a smaller deposit control a bigger position, so the default here reflects more typical perp order flow. Both pages let you change the size control to match your own trade.
Does this page show maker fees as well as taker fees?
The ranking uses taker fees, since a market order always takes liquidity, matching how the all-in-cost figure is built. A maker order isn't guaranteed to fill, so a resting maker rate — even where it's lower — isn't the basis for this comparison.
